Current research
He currently conducts research focused on global surgery and equitable access to surgical care.
His main research project focuses on out-of-pocket expenditure and catastrophic expenditure associated with surgical care in facilities belonging to Ecuador's public health system.
This work seeks to assess the economic impact faced by patients and their families when accessing surgical procedures, with the aim of generating evidence that contributes to strengthening health systems and ensuring timely and safe access to surgical care.

Professor and researcher at the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador (PUCE).
Attending physician in the Surgical Oncology Service at Carlos Andrade Marín Hospital.
