Research projects: 

PILLAR Project: Pillar Health Care Expansion and Population Health in Latin America 

This project is funded by the Medical Research Council of the United Kingdom and brings together researchers from universities or institutions in Brazil (Universidade Federal da Bahia), Mexico (National Institute of Public Health), Colombia (Universidad de Los Andes) and Ecuador (CISeAL- Pontificia Catholic University of Ecuador). The objective of the project is to evaluate the impact of the expansion of Primary Health Care and social programs on mortality and morbidity in the last two decades in order to provide inputs for public policies. This project will produce multiple impacts on health and research policies in Brazil Colombia, Mexico and Ecuador and in other Latin American countries through communication, dissemination and network consolidation activities.

 

SEDHI Project: NIHR Unit in Social and Environmental Determinants of Health Inequalities  

This project is funded by the National Institute for Health Research (Global Health Research Units and Groups Programme) of the United Kingdom and brings together various institutions from the United Kingdom (University of Glasgow), Brazil (Fiocruz, Federal University of Bahia, CIDACS, etc. ) and Ecuador (Universidad Internacional del Ecuador, CISeAL-Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador, ESPOL). In the next five years, the group aims to be a global leader, with a focus on Latin America, in leveraging and integrating existing databases to assess the impact of social and environmental policies on health and health inequalities. Research capacity in "data linkage" and policy evaluation will be developed as a legacy for Brazil and Ecuador.
